ELECTION DYSFUNCTION

Well,   just as I do every morning after getting out of a nice warm bed, I collected the paper, made my coffee , started up the old laptop and then read the headlines.   WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.....if it's not a murder by some student, a rape by some teacher, or a gaffe by one of our elite politicians  the news just isn't worth reading.

I originally was going to make this posting about the latest thoughts of the Presidential candidates.  Religion and woman's health  but I don't really want to touch any of these with a 10' pole.  As my dad would say,  leave Religion out of conversations with those you want to remain friends with.  How and to whom you pray shall always remain your own business.   SSSSSSSSooooooooo  having said that, I will move onto another subject.   Just want all our politicians to do the same.  Leave religious preferences out of politics, Let us keep one thing to ourselves without you guys messing it up,  and don't tell me how to dress for sex.

DRIVING

Recently, I became aware of the fact that  growing up  does not have to be as hard as most people think. Today, March 5th  our grand kids (twin boys) of our son and daughter-in-law  turn  16.   WOW!  Sixteen,   and much to my................not so surprise....................the first thing that happened that day was exactly what happened to me  59 years ago and to our son and daughter on the days they reached 16.  Off to the Motor Vehicle Bureau...................to get their drivers license.  What a thrill that day becomes in the mind of everyone ..............turning 16.  Just the thought of becoming independent and not having to beg your parents to drive you all around town is a deserving reward.  The only difference between me turning 16 and our kids and grand kids turning 16...................is that after taking that gruesome test they are able to step into ..................their very own car.  Just that proves how times have changed  I,  59 years ago ended up still walking to school that first week or so after 16 before getting my own car,  only after my mom and dad were able to not only locate the car they saw fit for me but the one that was most affordable. It seems to me that it cost somewhere in the vicinity of $35.      It turned out to be a 1936 Chevy ( the same age of me on that day) roadster with a rumble seat..................painted a brown color with orange fenders...............but who cares.....it was mine.  I treated that car like it was fresh off the showroom floor, waxed it up (to get more speed out of it) filled it up with gas (8 gals regular @ $.18 a gal for a total of $1.44) and hoped that it would be enough to last 3 weeks. I hate to tell you what the cost of the vehicles and the first fill up cost now-a-days.  Anyway,  drive carefully guys, always pay attention to the traffic around you, put your cell phones, iPads, and anything else you have in the trunk while you are driving and keep your eyes on the roads  in stead of the.......... ladies and don't forget  10-----20  on the wheel.
Well, at least now we know what to get them for holiday  something we are all familiar with outside of iPods,iPhones,iTunes,iWhatever and iHops.  We can now search for  curb feelers, steering wheel spinners and fir covers, large dice to hang from the mirror, shirts for the rear wheels fenders, a tiger tail hanging out of the gas tank or from the truck.................and for the very special Christmas present  ..........................one, one, one (1) fill up.

HAVE FUN ..............................AND BE SAFE!!!!
