My original intention for this week's blog, was to be able to give you some insight into the recent abnormal snowstorm......followed by an equally abnormal ice storm........followed by a normal wind storm that hit the area of Washington State known as the Puget Sound Area. Very seldom do we have this type of weather .................or at least I cannot recall the severity whereby I have experienced 6 days of power outage. Two days, I can see, three days I can understand, four days well............ok..........perhaps,................but 6 days I simply cannot accept................but I will and I did and I have lived this pioneer life hanging on to the edge. To be honest after three days of freezing cold, not able of leaving the house simply because snow removal was just not done and having no car able to make it up the hills or me having the ambition to put chains on, sat with 3 layers of clothes on, eating cheese, sipping protein drink and of course having the occasional glass of wine........to warm me up..............or at least that's what I told Margot. Anyway, we survived the first four days until we discovered that we could now get up the hill and over to a friends house........where there was heat and light....................and we could get out to the casino......................for lunch and dinner. WOW!!! life is tough.
POLITICS
My aim today was not to focus on politics. Instead, I wanted to dissect the President's address to reveal potential investment opportunities and risks.
I say "potential" because Congress needs to pass legislation before any of the President's initiatives can really have an impact. And given the recent gridlock in Washington - and the fact that it's an election year - there's no guarantee our elected (mis)representatives will get anything done.
First, though, perhaps we should find out what is true, half true, an downright
LIAR, LIAR, your pants are on fire!!

BREAKING NEWS
WOW!! Headline folks...........A quote from the big winner in Florida.........I give you MITT ROMNEY.
"I'm not concerned about the very rich, they're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90 percent, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling."
CNN's Soledad O'Brien pressed him on his comments, adding that they may sound odd for Americans who are very poor.
"Well you had to finish the sentence, Soledad," he replied. "I said 'I'm not concerned about the very poor that have a safety net but if it has holes in it, I will repair them.' The challenge right now -- we will hear from the Democrat party the plight of the poor. And there's no question it's not good being poor and we have a safety net to help those that are very poor. But my campaign is focused on middle-income Americans."
"We have a very ample safety net," said Romney. "And we can talk about whether it needs to be strengthened or whether there are holes in it. But we have food stamps, we have Medicaid, we have housing vouchers, we have programs to help the poor."
Programs in the "safety net" are also suffering during the economic recession. Medicaid, for example faces cuts as states attempt to balance budgets at a time when more people are using the program. GOP lawmakers have also eyed cuts in food stamps as food prices rise, even though more Americans are using the the program as a consequence of the economic recession.
Romney's policies call for cutting federal spending and reconfiguring the social safety net. He calls for an immediate five-percent cut to non-discretionary spending, which would hit the safety net hard. He proposes turning Medicaid into a block grant program and undertaking a "fundamental restructuring of government programs and services." He also calls for capping spending at 20 percent of GDP -- a significant cut -- and adds that he "will pursue further cuts" as spending comes "under control."
BY THE WAY.......in case you haven't heard these entitlement programs are just the programs the Republican party are trying to dissemble. Is that they way he will fix them??
Have a good day !!!!!
