This past weekend sure brought back some memories, even though many weren't brought into conversation.
Some weeks ago, I had received an email from an old friend......who I, by the way, hear from several times a day by email, that .......we'll name him "B" and his wife, we'll name her "D" were heading into Vancouver,BC for an Alaskan cruise. "B" said that they would be staying in Vancouver for two days before heading home and , that if there was anyway that we could touch bases to meet that we should . Well now, Knowing that I travel to Stockholm, Sweden each May for a luncheon, it was almost certain that I could drive 3 hours for a dinner. As that day approached, "B's" wife "D" and Margot started to correspond about hotels, restaurants etc. Finally the day arrived and Margot and I started out for Vancouver, BC. the Canadian side of the border was like clockwork and we arrived at our hotel just about 3:PM just time to freshen up, get out of the shorts and T-shirt , give "B" a call, drive over to their hotel and there they were. "B" has always bragged about his "toonies" and I must admit, that after we went into the hotel concierge room, which was stocked with snack foods and boos, "B" put together a martini (toonie) that was dee-lic-ous, even for an old vino lover as me.
I had first met "B" about 1962 when I had transferred from SAS head office out to customer service at JFK. Even though, we never really hung around together, we did go skiing together and became good friends. He did move faster up the ladder, than I had, going into sales, and than marketing management, advertising and left SAS for better positions with other companies..................we were able to remain in contact. A few years passed when we did not have any contact with each other and I eventually ended up in Seattle..........but .........."B" was able to visit Seattle a couple of times . Our biggest benefit was ...............email and we find that we do email each other several times a day with discussions that range from ...................."do you remember?" ......................to politics..........................to just about anything one can think of.
One of the funnies moments, looking back, was "B's" first marriage to a gal from SAS. Both Margot and I knew her and when it was discovered where they were planning to go on their honeymoon, we made sure that .................after a few days........................................we knocked on their door .................in Hawaii and spent some time with them.....................on their honeymoon. I remember, going out for dinner to the International market one night and after dinner we are walking back to our hotel. "B" and I are walking about 5 steps in back of the ladies and low and behold.......it wasn't long....before two sailors.....one on each side of the ladies were walking with them and talking up a storm. What nerve???
At dinner in a nice Chinese restaurant on Sunday, we planned our next day and decided on a nice drive up to Whistler resort. We picked up "B" and "D" the next morning and off we went. Whistler is beautiful anytime of the year and this day was not different. We went up the gondola to the top of Whistler and then I turned chicken in going over to Blackcomb mountain on the Peak 2 Peak gondola, which happens to be the highest gondola in the world..........so I sat myself down and people watched while the other 3 took the 40 minutes ride (approximately) round trip. Well, it was now lunch time. After lunch and nice conversation , a little walk around the village and we then started the drive back to Vancouver.
The next morning "B" and "D" headed back to the east coast of the States and Margot and I started back to Seattle. Border crossing no problem and eventually back home. Our visit with these two friends were most relaxing and full of memories. It sure is nice to have friendships last as long as this one has. Thanks "B and D" it was a nice 12 hours or so.

I recently received this from another friend and thought about it for .....................a quick minute and realized how relevant it was...............at this time. !!!!!!!
