POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, I'm not really sure when that short phrase became so popular........or correct, but I'm sure that it must have been in the past 5-10 years. Prior to that I guess we were just to impolite to be correct...........or.........perhaps did not want to be polite or correct. Try telling my parents that.
BUT.......political correctness appears in many different subjects...........SPORTS, the way of life of many people needs a great overhaul. Congress, wasting their time on so many other useless things should take a look at that.....................as I'm sure they will.......
I agree with our Native American population---I am highly insulted by
the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that
to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt
them as warriors, but nay, We must be careful not to offend,
and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.
Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we
need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns. The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of the militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. Offensive to us white folk.
The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the
Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war between
the states that cost this country so many young men's lives.
Besides, the South shall rise again!!.............SIMPLY because all shit floats.
I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names.
Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Angels or the San
Diego Padres. The fact that there are birds on their shirts does not protect either the Arizona or the St. Louis Cardinals---gone!
Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and
pillaged as their way of life. We are talking the horrible Oakland
Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!
Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children---and it is all about the children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible spending habits.
Wrong message to our children. The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity--a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children. The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates.
Wrong message to our children.
The Milwaukee Brewers---well, that goes without saying....
Wrong message to our children.
So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to
rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved
with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing
Congress loves... And
ohhhh...With all of this in mind, it might also make some
sense to change the name of the Oregon State WOMEN'S athletic teams to
something other than "the Beavers".
SEE YOU SOON !!!!!

RESOLUTION TIME.......................AGAIN??
New Years Eve.........time to look into the eyes of the one you love.........lift your glass of.....whatever.......and say the words of this time of year.............."I love you"..........now that being said............how many times has it been when the words just simply don't come out the way you intend them ......but rather in the moment, the only thing on ones mind is............"so whats your New Years resolution for this year"
I can tell you that I have been making New Years resolutions for........oh........70 years. I cannot be totally sure of what I will say next .......but I know for sure.....that only ONE was kept. STOP SMOKING some 47 years ago. The other's were dreams or something., loose weight, exercise more, eat less, loose weight, grow another 2", declutter, loose weight, work harder, loose weight, spend more money, have more fun, loose weight and the list goes on......and on ........and on. None, nader, nil, zero and every other term that mean NO WAS always the result of my resolution lasting more than a period of 3 days. This year I have found......what I feel is the secret of making a New Years resolution..............I made my resolution a week before on Christmas eve and so far it has now lasted 8 days..........and two parties. My resolution for this year is ..................not to discuss Politics, religion or family life style anywhere food or alcoholic beverages are being consumed .......and with anyone that considers FOX their primary source of information, the second amendment the most important amendment of them all or that God created all men equal............but woman unequal. You might say that I have limited myself to whom I may .discuss..these topics with......Yes, I have.
To me, it's mind boggling how people treat New Years resolutions as a ........total make over of a persons outlook on life .......... throwing out the old........beginning the new..........Can this really be done? In reviewing other people's resolutions it seems that more than 99% want to do more, accomplish more, do better and get more, I must say though that I have only looked at those that wish for more and for more good. I have not looked at the other side........those that already have these things but perhaps want less. Can there actually be some of those?
How about some of those resolutions!!!!!!!!
1-I made to much money last year I want to earn less.
2-I payed to much taxes last year I want to pay less.
3-I enjoyed myself to much last year......help me enjoy myself less next year.
4-I want to gain more weight and exercise less
5-I want to work less and earn more than last year.
So, in all due respect......resolutions can be both productive and unproductive to individuals.........as they want them to be. Now if I was to look back over the last year or the last 70 years I have.....or have not.....whatever I want to believe......... kept...... ALL...... the resolutions I made, and now the question is very simple. Why is it necessary to make a resolution that I feel I can not keep? Why don't I live my life like I have for the past years, do what I think is best for me for that moment and never have to say I failed and broke my resolution.
Well, thinking this out certainly makes me feel so much better not having to fight a false thought. SO LONG RESOLUTIONS !!!!! (and besides I'm an old man with a mind of my own, resolutions are you those that have to make dreams come true) Live for the day. enjoy life as it is. If this seems a little confusing to some of you,.............it's the Mike's hard lemonade hang over talking on my part, if it makes sense to you.........
HAPPY NEW YEAR ........................See you soon.
