Occasionally, I get a little ahead of myself and forget to do things in the natural order. Well, Well ! Anyway, I want to introduce you to my family. These are the people that will end up with this blog .......as reading material.........after I eventually go off to the big Vino Bar. Now, this is my first try at something like this so pay close attention. NOW!! wasn't that fun?? now you should know, where we live. Well, our daughter Lisa, husband Tim and Maggie are presently living in PaPa, Hungary for the next 3 years. Tim is with Boeing International who has a NATO contract to service the C-17s . Tim along with others are the servicing people. Scott, Traci and the twin boys, Cormick and Bryson live north of Seattle, WA. and Margot and I live south of Seattle. A friend of mine recently put this together to show a little of Seattle. From Mt. Rainier, farmers market at Pike Street Market, to Puget sound, Seahawks (our football team) and the Mariners, (our baseball team). Hope you enjoy the little bit of Seattle. After all that why don't we just settle down to some real tasty chicken salad. Here is a great recipe found at one of Seattle's better eatery's. or should that be eateries, anyway take you pick.
(4 servings)
1 pound boneless and skinless chicken breasts
2 ribs celery, finely chopped
1/2 cup chopped pecans, divided
1/3 cup drained, sliced black olives divided
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
shredded ice berg lettuce
1. Put the chicken into a pan and cover with water. Bring to a boil and immediately reduce the heat. Simmer, partly covered, about 10 to 12 minutes, or until the chicken tests done. Remove from the water and cool. Then dice and put into a bowl.
2. Add the celery to the chicken. Save about a tablespoon of the pecans and a couple of tablespoons of the olives for garnish, then add the remaining of both to the chicken.
3. Stir together the mayonnaise, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Fold into the salad, cover and refrigerate until read to serve. (If the salad seems too stiff once chilled, loosen with a couple of tablespoons water.)
4. Serve the salad on a bed of iceberg lettuce, garnished with precans and sliced olives, accompanied with toasted (edges trimmed off) bread.

MORE REPUBLICAN .............STUFF!!!!
I simply had to hurry and add this to the previous posting since they are so related. I wrote the previous posting about how the Republican party sees the renewal of the unemployment tax and the possible elimination of tax cuts due to expire in December 2010. My initial reaction, came simply from the Senator interviewed in the article and the article itself. Now! comes more revealing news on the same subject.......all I find, very interesting ..................and funny. Apparently Sen. Crapo-(R) Idaho, a member of the finance committee, which writes tax law ( he was basically unknown before this article, except to his constituents) has now got some top heavy guns following him. Sen. Jon Kyl-(R) Arizona the second-ranking Republican in the Senate, was asked the obvious question: If deficits are so worrisome, what about the budgetary cost of extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, which the Obama administration wants to let expire but Republicans want to make PERMANENT? What should replace $650 B or more in lost revenue over the next decade? His answer......needless to say.......was either for the students of the NEW ENGLISH or people totally out of whack with the English language. " You do need to offset the cost of increased spending, and that's what Republicans object to, But you should never have to offset the cost of a deliberate decision to re-duce tax rates on Americans." So, what your saying is $30 Billion in aid to the unemployed is unaffordable, but 20 times that much in tax cuts for the rich doesn't count..............Now the best part..............The very next day Sen. Mitch McConnell (R) and Senate minority Leader, confirmed that Kyl was giving the official party line: There's no evidence whatsoever that the Bush tax cuts actually diminished revenue ( I would say going further in debt would be evidence) . They increased revenue, because of the vibrancy of these tax cuts in the economy, so what I think Sen. Kyl was expressing was a view of virtually EVERY REPUBLICAN on that subject. Now, I know that calling the economy of the Bush years was perhaps a little harsh being noted as "sluggish" and "stagnant" but this simply enforces the Republican commitment to keep things screwed up with their absorbent claim that tax cuts increases revenue......It increases revenue only for the identity that enjoys the tax cut...................then again. THAT'S WHAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY STANDS FOR ..............THEMSELVES. I guess that according to both Kyl and McConnell cutting taxes FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE simply means cut tax for the wealthy and keep the rest of the population so poor that they need not pay taxes. Compare that with the economy class passenger being given an empty bowl during food service and permission to visit the First Class section and beg for extra leftovers.

WHA!!!.....THE HELL DID CRAPO SAY!!!!
This morning started off, just as every morning has been doing lately. Nice warm start of the day, got up about 0600, shut off the alarm, went out to pick up the paper, checked out the OBITS.........HOT DOG! NO RIZZO'S........lets cook up some coffee. AH! out on the deck. Birds have their breakfeast.......guess the squirrel hasn't been here yet. Let's see what's happening in the world.
I'm not really sure how this can be done, and I'm not really sure the party of NO is really concerned about ever balancing the budget .................to protect.......our children. I certainly don't understand the rationale behind this article. I can fully understand, that cutting taxes SHOULD create spending but not necessarily from the group that the Republicans want to cut taxes for. Most of that group have WAYS AND MEANS to hide from paying taxes. Having lots of money does not constitute that you will pay a lot of tax, to the contrary. Look at the Exxon deal from my last posting Paid 18 billion in taxes.......BUT.....zero.....natta....zilch to the country where a good deal of the money was made.......why?........LOOPHOLES.........designed to do just that. Stop from paying taxes.

Yet those very same senators are demanding that we extend hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans in our society." The money for jobless benefits is expected to win Senate approval (Tuesday) after weeks of Republican-led filibusters. The next big economic fight: President George W. Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.
If the cuts are not extended by Dec. 31, taxes on income,capital gains, dividends and estates would increase next year and the child-care credit would be cut in half, to $500 per child.
President Obama would reinstate the top two pre-Bush marginal income-tax rates of 36 and 39.6 percent, starting with adjusted gross incomes of more than $250,000 for joint filers a and $200,000 for individuals. The current top rates are 33 and 35 percent.
He would retain the Bush-era rates ranging from 10 to 28 percent for those who earn less.
Conservatives contend tax policy is different from spending. Tax cuts spur the economy, the thinking goes. Business hiring and the economy will grow if consumers spend and invest more. Reducing tax revenue will restrain spending. (AH AH. that must be the new math)
On the other hand, they say extending unemployment benefits without offsetting revenue doesn't boost the economy appreciably and could weaken the incentive to work. ( WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?)
Liberals, boosted by the report this year from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), maintain jobless benefits go to those who need them most and are likely to be spent quickly, multiplying their economic effect. (NO!!! just give me my money I'm going to put it in the bank and SAVE IT.....to hell with food, housing and clothing ...........fool)
Deficits under Obama's budget plan already are expected to total about $9.75 trillion over 10 years. The CBO and Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation said this year that extending the original Bush-era tax cuts would increase those deficits by $2.56 trillion. ( WHO CARES.....just give the rich fold their money)
"I believe it would be a serious mistake to make any of the tax cuts permanent now, " said Leaonard Burman, a professor of public affairs at Syracuse University's Maxwell School, however, he said some of the tax cuts should be exteded since "low and middle-income households are facing serious cash-flow constraints."
Doughlas Holtz-Eakin, chief of Bush's council of Economic Advisers from 2001 to 2002, warned against letting any tax rates rise: "The prospect of a large tax increase would force households to undertake even more balance sheet repair." (end of article)

FROM THE DESK OF......................
It looks as though it will be a great day today. Seven AM, deck half covered in sun already, cup of coffee, newspaper in hand and the sweet sound of birds tweeting.....no not on their computers........ Just reading a very interesting article on why the right wingers................no not the birds..................are pissed off again at our poor President. It seems that the congress decided to take off for summer break and are romping on the beaches in the Southeastern part of the country..............Our President............hard at work decided to get something done............SSSSSOOOOOO he appointed a couple of people to head up some departments that have been waiting for leadership for the past ..................OOOHHHH year or so. The members of the "right" seemed to disapprove of this method known as................getting off your ass and getting something done "RECESS APPOINTMENT" Now, in all due respect, I am blaming both of these glorified party's for this since I believe that they should give their employer............YOU AND ME ........THE PEOPLE...........an honest days work. They seem to feel that 4 hours a day is all they can stand. After all, it's mind boggling to work on all these problems...........that.....................YOU...........CONGRESS!!!! can make without using up all of their BRAIN power, at one sitting. Lets clarify one thing before I go any further, lets compare the previous administration........(better yet)........I'll even go out on a limb and say I'll give you 2 democrats to one republican administrations.

Perhaps it would be to the benefit of ALL Americans, that while you are gone, the Prez. comes in and replaces you all. This brings to mind a question I have been having headaches over. If congress can all get together and enact a law governing how many years a President and Vice President can serve..... Who can enact that same law on Congress. I guess the answer is only Congress. Who would be stupid enough to do that to themselves???? Seems a little ass backwards to me. I think TERM LIMITS for all elected officials should be the law of the land. Notice, I say ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS. These people have got it made..........4 hour days (max) 3 days work week (max) free postage. Spring break, Summer break, Fall break, Winter break. All holidays off, travel both foreign and domestic paid for, usually by tax payers, lobbyist or on military aircraft. Escorts (both security and otherwise) in foreign cities. GOLLY GEE GUYS.........cut the guy some slack.........after all you take you vacations 5 times a year and shut the doors to the office ...............MAY I REMIND YOU.............FOR THE PEOPLE. Everyone knows it's healthy to take a nap mid afternoon but no time off does not do it. Seems the right forgot about the times Mr. Bush .................WAS OUT OF THE OFFICE.......................mentally and physically.
It apparently was OK during the last administration since the "cowboy" was down on the ranch.....moving brush (like for the amount of time it took to click the photo) and was considered a working vacation. If that's the case, as long as Obama is wearing his Hawaiian shirt lets consider that a working vacation.
I really get a kick out of all the times I hear (I don't know their names but I call them)the 3 stooges of the right. I recently read an article in the paper regarding the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It seems that EX-GOV. Palin along with John McCain and Dick Armey(R) former house majority leader are leading a pack of conservative wolves to rag on Obama for not waiving the Jones Act. I thought this to be quite interesting so I decided to do a little research on this. Apparently President Bush during the Katrina fiasco waived the act to permit foreign ships to transport much needed oil and gas between ports in Louisiana and other states, WHICH WAS QUITE LEGITIMATE!!!! since the oil and gas was already onboard these ships and 99.9% of these ships are registered outside this country. Let me bring you up to date on some things...................first of all ....one of the things the Jones act protects is that all cargo carried between U.S ports is carried on U.S. made ships worked by U.S. merchant seaman. The Jones act basically covers 3 miles from the coast of the USA.and protects the interest of U.S business.
According to the Admiral of the U.S. Coast Guards, who I would consider well versed in the Jones Act since it is the job of the Coast Guard to enforce this Act, that since the location of the deepwater horizon platform is 41 miles off the coast that NO WAIVER is necessary. How can it be that our legislatures DON'T KNOW THIS!!!! Are they that brain dead? If so, why are they still legislating? Also, apparently unbeknown to them that presently the U.S. does not have the ships available to do such work, and that booms from several foreign countries and 24 foreign ships from nine countries have been assisting since the 11th of May.with addition help from 12 foreign countries being implemented. Now........to carry this one step further, I also found out that McCain recently sponsored a bill to repeal the Jones Act, as the conservatives consider this Act to be protectionist that hurts business. So, if I have this right, one side of their mouth says KEEP BUSINESS IN AMERICA........the other side says....PERMIT FOREIGN COMPETITION!!!!!! Sounds like used car salesman rhetoric to me. TELL EACH GROUP WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR!!!!!!.........they will listen to me.........I'm a war hero.

Everyone knows it's healthy to take a nap mid afternoon but no time off does not do it. Seems the right forgot about the times Mr. Bush .................WAS OUT OF THE OFFICE.......................mentally and physically.
It apparently was OK during the last administration since the "cowboy" was down on the ranch.....moving brush (like for the amount of time it took to click the photo) and was considered a working vacation. If that's the case, as long as Obama is wearing his Hawaiian shirt lets consider that a working vacation.
I really get a kick out of all the times I hear (I don't know their names but I call them)the 3 stooges of the right. Two guys, one gal, sitting there criticising the President and all his buddies but then it shows flashbacks of past Republican Presidents doing the exact same thing as the present day President, This is what I mean when I said that FOX isn't even bright enough to photo shop their video's. Someone should send them the BROADCASTING FOR DUMMIES book.
I recently read an article in the paper regarding the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It seems that EX-GOV. Palin along with John McCain and Dick Armey(R) former house majority leader are leading a pack of conservative wolves to rag on Obama for not waiving the Jones Act. I thought this to be quite interesting so I decided to do a little research on this. Apparently President Bush during the Katrina fiasco waived the act to permit foreign ships to transport much needed oil and gas between ports in Louisiana and other states, WHICH WAS QUITE LEGITIMATE!!!! since the oil and gas was already onboard these ships and 99.9% of these ships are registered outside this country. Let me bring you up to date on some things...................first of all ....one of the things the Jones act protects is that all cargo carried between U.S ports is carried on U.S. made ships worked by U.S. merchant seaman. The Jones act basically covers 3 miles from the coast of the USA.and protects the interest of U.S business.
According to the Admiral of the U.S. Coast Guards, who I would consider well versed in the Jones Act since it is the job of the Coast Guard to enforce this Act, that since the location of the deepwater horizon platform is 41 miles off the coast that NO WAIVER is necessary. How can it be that our legislatures DON'T KNOW THIS!!!! Are they that brain dead? If so, why are they still legislating? Also, apparently unbeknown to them that presently the U.S. does not have the ships available to do such work, and that booms from several foreign countries and 24 foreign ships from nine countries have been assisting since the 11th of May.with addition help from 12 foreign countries being implemented. Now........to carry this one step further, I also found out that McCain recently sponsored a bill to repeal the Jones Act, as the conservatives consider this Act to be protectionist that hurts business. So, if I have this right, one side of their mouth says KEEP BUSINESS IN AMERICA........the other side says....PERMIT FOREIGN COMPETITION!!!!!! Sounds like used car salesman rhetoric to me. TELL EACH GROUP WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR!!!!!!.........they will listen to me.........I'm a war hero.

AM I REPEATING MYSELF? ? ?

I have tried, very hard, to leave Politics out of my blog, except to appreciate the humor in it..........but NO! some readers just can't leave it alone. SSSSOOOOO, my friends on the right............take note!!!!! I must say that I do listen to political TV, read the paper each day and factcheck whatever I have questions about correctness. I have somewhat given up listening to FOX simply because this Murdoch developed list of programs are so overwhelming over the hill and INCORRECT on most of their information, that it just doesn't make any sense at all. They apparently do not edit anything about what they say to see if its at least half correct but they also do not have the intelligence to photoshop some of their photos or videos before putting them on the air. Between Beck, Russ and Bill plus the backing of some of the minor players there is much to be desired as far as their reporting of political news is concerned. They have basically, in my opinion, been able to misinterpret and misrepresent any little amount of information available. Now, they have added another personality to their staff.......who I basically label as ...........SH.. for brains............MS. Palin, Although she has been able to establish a following..........of not knows........into her darken halls of nonsense. This is news reporting generated ...............by..............opinioniated......personalities, thereby creating misinformation to the masses. "Tokyo Rose" second generation.
It's very surprising to me, the amount of people that have written to my email, regarding these two posts back in February. It is JUST as surprising to me that those people, not only apparently do not know how the Government gets its money, but they can't read either. Thirdly, it is also apparent, that those are the people asking the government for something THEY WANT, but refuse to pay for it............Let me be perfectly blunt with you my friends......The ONLY WAY ,the government accounts for income is through TAXES AND DUTIES. It is beyond my comprehension that one does not know this. If you want a bridge to nowhere, you have to also be wise enough to know that someone will charge to build this bridge, but why would you want a bridge to nowhere to begin with. People do not just wave a magic wand and .......POOF!!.........you have your bridge. NOW! the government will help pay for a part of this bridge.........(after, of course your Senators and Congressman lobby for it . .......and get it.......in exchange for their vote on another totally different bill), after all, THAT'S THE AMERICAN WAY. Then when the OTHER SIDE does the same .......OOOOHHHHHH NNNOOOO! that's against the law. We cant do that.
Listening to and reading about our two major parties going at it is the best part of life. The amount of dirt you can get is unbelievable. They are like a bunch of 5th graders fighting over a ball. "ITS MINE,,,,,NO ITS MINE.....NO ITS MINE AND I WANT TO PLAY THIS WAY.........NO ITS MINE AND I DON'T WANT TO PLAY THAT WAY...................OK, THEN I'M TAKING MY BALL HOME. until you agree to play my way. WHAT THE HELL!!!!!! WAH! WAH! WAH!, if you take your ball home, I'm going to tell everybody that you like Suzie and you kissed her. " If you say that about me, I'm going to tell everybody I saw you play with yourself in the boys room"...........WHAT ON EARTH! IS HAPPENING. HAVE WE LOST ALL PRIDE? or are we just so stupid as a people to constantly bring these so called intellectual politicians back again and again to make our laws. We are their bosses, we have put them where they are BUT.....they have gotten together to not only ignore our wishes but to give themselves pay raises whenever they want........along with cutting their hours. WHERE ELSE CAN THIS HAPPEN, where else can the employee tells the boss how much they want and what they will do or not do for it. They have found a way to even make it law to cut MY PAY and I happen to be one of the bosses, but for some unknown reason, we continue to let them RULE THE ROOST and run this country into CAVEMAN territory so THEY CAN BENEFIT.
I must admit, that I do not really understand the NEW MATH however I also must admit that I consider myself a master of the OLD MATH, since I can add 2 + 2 and get 4. WOWEEE!! MUST BE THE GENIUS IN ME. To bad some of our politicians can't do the same. Now, "Here my friends", are some things that perhaps you can understand. IF, you can't then it's to bad for you. If you find the numbers are just to big for you to understand, replace them with easy numbers.........like 2, 3, 4 and 5. not all together.

As you can see, we are already into a deficit of $1.27 Trillion dollars and growing with each new expenditure. DUH!!!! You can also see, that the only income is from Taxes. Simple question now is why lower taxes??? am I missing something????? You basically have only two choices. Increase income (taxes)or start a business or lower expenditures...........why not cut out some of the Pork, THEIR SALARIES, for one ( that's short for some of the crap Congressman ask for in exchange for their votes, I call bribery) but they don't want to do that.........WHY? you ask. Because their constituents may think they are doing nothing, vote them out and now they have to live like 10% of the out of work population.
If a town in Illinois wants the 100 park benches painted, the congressman looks around for a bill needing one more YAH VOTE...... and lobbies for his park benches being painted........ let the town figure out how to paint them. Don't let the government pay a portion of it , if not all of it.
Another thing we as a country, can do is STOP BORROWING MONEY!!!!!. We could automatically save 251 Billion of interest on this borrowed money that does nothing more than pay for non essentials in the form of PORK!!!!!. AM I MISSING SOMETHING???? My dad, was the expert they needed. He lived by the rule that when you were close to using all you money STOP BUYING until you were able to afford it. Why can't someone in the government simply say NO! YOU CANT HAVE THAT UNTIL WE HAVE THE MONEY FOR IT, so stop crying and figure out how to get the money.
Now, to make things even more simple so our elected officials can understand things, I will simply refer to the Conservatives as the RED party and the Liberals as the BLUE party. Now, the RED group of people want to give back to the SMALL PEOPLE something called taxes. This, they say will give the SMALL PEOPLE more opportunity to buy things......from small businesses, who would also have their taxes reduced.........so they can buy from larger companies who would pay less tax than now...... but most of the taxes overall. Lets analyze this. I, as a small person would get more money in my paycheck to buy more things, I need gas for my car to be able to drive to my job to earn money, so I go to the local Exxon station, fill up for the next week of traveling to work. The local Exxon station, buys from a larger distributor but pays less taxes since he is also a small business. Now, the distributor buys from a larger distributor and the exact same thing happens........UNTIL EVENTUALLY.......the money arrives at the main EXXON guys place, not in the U.S.A. at the end of the year they make out their income taxes...........by the way folks.............THIS IS TRUE...........EXXON PAID $18 billion dollars in taxes..........BUT NOT one red cent to the USA.......and also got a $156 million dollar refund check from the IRS. That was one law passed by a 61-35 vote in the senate. GUESS WHAT PARTY VOTED for that law and the year??? Check it out, it's public record....If I did that with my taxes, I would be writing this blog from prison. IS THIS WHAT REDUCED TAXES DO??????????
Now, in fairness, I must say that the BLUE guys are just as bad. They spend all the income and go out and borrow....................this primarily to bribe the RED guys for votes needed to buy STUFF! that both the red and blue guys want.
Where does it end?? When does it end???? and congress asks Why does it end??????
Finally, if the REDS want to cut the deficit and save our children, perhaps they should look back over the 70's-90's check at what the deficit was then and check if they were so concerned about our children at that time. Personally, since some readers did not like my idea of leasing out our military and equipment to other countries, perhaps the government should go into business and sell a product and let the private businesses compete for the business. The government, could make some money other than taxes and duties. Now, they should choose a business that perhaps could be exported to other countries. HOW ABOUT HEALTH CARE!!!!!. or they can sell......PROTECTION INSURANCE!!!! since it seems we are taking care of most of the world anyway.
